Please refer to framing plan for the first floor in the
old apartment area. We have specified a 6 X 12 approximately
10'-0" from -the east wall. After the floor was opened
up and other repairs made, a concrete foundation wall was
discovered at this location. Therefore, the 6 X 12 will
not a required.

Re: Rancho Deep Cliff 61 unit condominium development.
Dear Sirs:
I have instructed the contractor to change the reinforcing
clearance from the back of the concrete block from 2" to
2-1/4". This provides the required effective "d" and
also 1-1/2 times the aggregate size between the
reinforgipig and the face shell of the concrete block.

TESTING AND INSPECTION DURING GRADING OF
MODEL LOTS 7 AND 8
• Dear Mr. Herman:
Per your request, our firm hag provided testing and observation services
during grading operations of the model lots for the proposed residential
development located on the south side of Stevens Canyon Road, near Deep
Cliff Drive in Cupertino,;California.
The work commenced with the general removal and stockpiling of the organi-
cally contaminated topsoil. This material is to be used at a later date
for landscaping purposes.' The area designated to receive engineered fill
was stripped of all organic material and the exposed surface was scarified
• to a minimum depth of 8 inches and recompacted to 90% relative compaction
in accordance with the soil investigation report prepared by our firm, File
No. 5-909-S1 dated August 22, 1975.
Field density tests performed by our firm indicated that adequate compac-
tion was being obtained on the building pad areas during grading operations.
The results of these tests, on which acceptance is based, show values in
excess of 90% relative compaction for native soil according to the labora-
tory compaction test procedure ASTM D1557-70. d
In summary, the proposed building pads (Lots 7 and 8) are now acceptably'com-
pleted according to field grade stakes and the recommendations of the
previously mentioned soil investigation report, and are ready to receive
building improvements.
