EDC 11-20-96 City of Cupertino Economic Development Committee Meeting November 20, 1996 1. CALL TO ORDER At 7:30 a.m. Carol Atwood called the meeting to order in Conference Room A of Cupertino City Hall, 10300 Torre Avenue, Cupertino. 2. ROLL CALL City Staff: Carol Atwood, Don Brown, Bob Cowan, Dorothy Steenfott, Bert Viskovich. Councilmembers: John Bautista and Lauralee Sorensen. Chamber of Commerce: Tom Hall, Doug Huston, Donna Lawler, and John Statton. Absent: Steve Dowling 3. NEW BUSINESS John Bautista reported on a meeting he attended with Deek Hunter, Lauralee Sorensen, Don Brown, Carol Atwood, Bert Viskovich, and Phil Bouse (DeAnza Ventures) to discuss development opportunities for the corner of Stevens Creek and DeAnza Boulevard. John reported that a conceptual design was presented on how a development, other than a gas station, could work and stay within the guidelines for open space, density requirements and provide sales tax revenue for the City. Dorothy Steenfott distributed the site visit packets to all committee members. Members were asked to complete one site visit per month and return the questionnaires to Dorothy. Carol Atwood reported that we are exploring possible database programs that can be used to maintain site visit information. Carol Atwood distributed a copy of the committee's second educational article. The article will be published in the December Scene. John Statton provided a list of shopping center management firms for the committee's review. Carol Atwood requested input from the group on other firms we might want to meet with. Lauralee Sorensen and John Bautista met with the Weiss' regarding Davidson Chevrolet. A tentative agreement to share the cost of improvements was reached during the meeting. Lori Prouty, DeAnza College, presented information regarding DeAnza's in-house business training program. She distributed a brochure to committee members and stated that members are weleome to take copies with them for the site visits. 4. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 a.m.
