Economic: Development Team Meeting
June 26, 1996 Summary
Present at the meeting were: Carol Atwood, Don Brown, Doug Huston, John Statton, Steve
Dowling, Tom Hall, Bob Cowan, John Bautista, Bert Viskovich and Dorothy Steenfott.
Carol Atwood reviewed the list of follow up items from prior meetings. Specific updates
included:
. John Statton stated that work is continuing on the web site and is expected to be ready in
September.
. Carol Atwood reported that the City Channel referred us to a professional video company.
Carol will get a price quote from the firm, but feels that the City Channel will produce a
quality product.
. Bob Cowan reported on the status of the signage for Davidson Chevrolet. The Mayor has
contested the Planning Commission's decision and the appeal will be heard on July IS. No
plans for the parking area/bike lane have been submitted. John Statton will contact Paul
Weiss.
. Steve Dowling reported that work is continuing on the welcome packet cover. The target
date for completion is September. Carol Atwood informed the group of DeAnza's interest in
writing a section to promote the education center.
. John Statton provided an updated list of key contacts for the site visits.
. Bert Viskovich informed the group that Caltrans will not permit signage for Valleo Mall.
Our options are signs on private property or renaming the street.
Current issues included the following:
. John Statton reported on the latest meeting with the Valleo Merchant Group. He stated that it
will be several months before any progress is made.
. Carol Atwood reported that 10,000 surveys have been mailed out to businesses in the
DeAnzalFoothill College District for their economic development project. The City will
receive the data obtained from these surveys.
. Bob Cowan reported on the talks going on between Tandem and Marriott. There should be
more information in a couple of weeks and Don Brown expects a call from Tandem on the
status of the proposal next week.
. Don Brown reported that Whole Foods is still planning to do a farmers market. Progress is
being made on the building and they should be in around mid-August.

Other items of update:
. REI is still looking to purchase 2 II2 acres for expansion. No site has been identified to date.
. Cupertino Village remodel is proceeding.
. Hobees has been approved for expansion of space.
