CONTRACTOR Shall provide or furnish the following specified services and/or materials:
Engineering services for preliminary design, final design and construction staking
of rough grades and curb grades.

COMPENSATION For the full performance of this Agreement,CITY shall pay CONTRACTOR: grade staking.
Total compensation $48,100. Extras at standard per diem rate schedule.
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Hold Harmless. Contractor agrees to save and hold harmless the City, its officers;agents and employees from any and
all damage and liability of every nature, including all costs of defending any claim,caused by or arising out of the per-
formance of this agreement.City shall not be liable for acts of Contractor in performing services described herein.
Insurance. Should the City require evidence of insurability Contractor shall file with City a Certificate of Insurance
before commencing any services under this agreement.Said Certificate shall be subject to the approval of City's
Director of Administrative Services.
Non-Discrimination. No discrimination shall be made in the employment of persons under this agreement because of
the race, color, national origin,ancestry, religion or sex of such person.
Interest of Contractor. It is understood and agreed that this agreement is not a contract of employment in the sense
that the relation of master and servant exists between City and undersigned.At all times Contractor shall be deemed to
be an independent contractor and Contractor is not authorized to bind the City to any contracts or other obligations in
executing this agreement.Contractor certifies that no one who has or will have any financial interest under this
agreement is an officer or employee of City.
Changes. This agreement shall not be assigned or transferred without the written consent of the City.No changes or
variations of any kind are authorized without the written consent of the City.

Professional Civil Engineering Services for the items listed
in your request for improvements on Stevens Creek Boulevard
Project 4002 dated March 16 , 1988 .
We have picked a team of sub—consultants that are
experienced in their respective feilds of operation and have
done a considerable number of projects in the area.
We are attaching a brief resume for our firm and of the
sub—consultants that you can review and verify our qualifications
to provide you with Professional Engineering Services that
will meet your time schedule and budget .

Engineering Proposal
Our Approach to Provide Services
Our approach to this project if . awarded the contract
will be to confer with the City Agencies in assembling all
pertient information to prepare preliminary base map and
right of way plan and to acquire Prelimanary Title Reports
for plats , right of way and easement acquisitions . The
land surveyor will start topographical surveys including
surveys for lot corners and existing right of way , original
cross sections for roadway , sanitary , storm drains , utilities
and conforms of all existing improvements which will
remain in place or require construction.
Once the field information has been plotted on
topographic map and calculated @ 20 scale, topographic maps
shall be prepared delineating the existing topography and
then a preliminary right of way and acquisition plan shall
be submitted to the city for review and for approval . If
an alternate is required , the. plan shall be revised -and
preliminary plan prepared including preliminary geometric
alignments. Upon review of preliminary design and its
approval , the final design shall be prepared including
roadway improvements , sanitary sewer extension, storm sewer
extension and water line replacement . .
Upon approval of final design 25 sets of plans and
specifications along with construction cost estimates will
be submitted and contract documents prepared including
specifications , general provisions and special provisions .
We would expect to confer with the city staff at all
major approval points and through out the work as it progress
to confirm that we are on schedule and compliance with their
directions .
At award of contract the successful bidder will be
contacted and rough grade stating performed as needed with
curb and gutter to be stated when contractor requests
them all as will be called out in contract bid documents .

Enclosed is a copy of the estimated manhour commitment form showing
in red the dollar amount of estimate. Note that the Soils Engineering,
Structural Engineering and Landscape Architectural fees are based upon a
rate schedule of $100.00 per hour depending upon the work the city would
like done. In the case of the Soils Engineer, they could save the city
considerable money by checking existing pavement to see if it could be
overlaid instead of removing.
