SUBJECT: Your Homestead Well #1 and #3
Dear Ken,
The first consideration in proposing any procedures to get these two
wells back into service involves how to get rid of pump-off water.
WELL #3
As we reviewed the video on Well #3 with you the other day, we
determined that a patch was necessary at the missing Western plug
area at 493 feet. In addition, the well must be swabbed and gravel
pack re-established.
It would be advisable to then do some redevelopment pumping with our
test pump to clear the well of sflt and abrasive parttcles in suspension.
This process would save wear on your pump and establish the performance
capability of the well.
These procedures could be accomplished if the well discharge water
was allowed to flow tnto the orc~ard and flood that field as has
been done in the past. A cost sheet ts attached for your consfdertation.
WELL #1
Jerry and I have reviewed the video and log on this well, and we feel
that it will require some repairs, some rehabilftatfon and then
redevelopment.
The lip at 219 feet, and possibly the lip at 261 feet, should be
carefully swaged back into conformity. This must be done with care
because of the age and condftfon (and previous repairs) of the well.
We strongly recommend the Hydro-Purge process be employed on this well.
The video survey went to a depth of 975 feet, showfng perforations
starting at 380 feet that were heavfly encrusted from 430 feet down.
To open these perforattons at the least risk to the casing, the Hydro-
Purge process would have advantage over any physical contact or shock
method such as swabbing, sonar or jet, or blasting approach.

Here again, redevelopment pumping would provide operating performance
on which you could base pump sizing and future water delivery. The
Hydro-Purge process does provide pumping data, not to the extent of
the development testing, but at least some pumping as opposed to the
swabbing process necessary for Well #3.
These procedures are also dependent upon being able to pump off from
the well head and observe the pumpage. The curb drain approximately
100 feet up the street may offer the means to pump off. A cost sheet
is attached.
Yours Very Truly,
