Agreement on the Establishment of a Friendship City Designation Between
Taizhou, People's Republic of China and
Cupertino, California, United States of America
To further develop friendly cooperation and deepen mutual understanding and friendship between
different cultures; Taizhou, People's Republic of China and the City of Cupertino, California, United
States of America enter into this Agreement on matters concerning the establishment of friendly
cooperation between the two parties through amicable negotiation.
I. The parties agree to jointly promote friendly exchange between the people of Taizhou and the
City of Cupertino on the basis of equality and mutual benefit dependent upon ratification of
this Agreement by both.
IL The parties should exchange information with each other and strengthen the exchange and
cooperation in economics, culture, education, innovation and entrepreneurship, and other
areas.
III . The parties should establish a friendly relationship, based on exchange and cooperation, to
jointly promote cultural and educational exchanges with Taizhou and the City of Cupertino.
IV. The parties will follow the City of Cupertino's "Policies and Guidelines on Sister Cities,
Friendship Cities, and International Delegations."
V. This Agreement is made in duplicate in both Chinese and English, with both versions being
equally valid, and shall take effect from the date when it is signed by both parties.
VI. The term of this Agreement is for two years and will automatically terminate if not renewed.

LETTER OF INTENT ON FRIENDLY EXCHANGE
BETWEEN TAIZHOU OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC
OF CHINA AND CUPERTINO OF THE UNITED STATES
OF AMERICA
Wishing to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the
Chirn::se and American peoples, and consolidate and develop friendly
cooperation between Taizhou and Cupertino , both citi es have reached
agreement , through friendly consultations , on friendly exchanges as
follows.
I. The two cities will carry out, in accordance with the principles of
equality and mutual benefit, exchanges and cooperation between the two
cities in various forms in the fields of economy, trade, sci ence and
technology , culture , education, sports, health, personnel, etc. to promote
commv ri prosperity and development.
II. Regular contacts shall be maintained between the leaders and relevant
departments of the two cities to facilitate consultations on the exchanges
an d ,:.;ooperation as well as matters of common concern .
III. The two cities will fmiher strengthen friendly exchanges, expand
people-to-people cooperation , promote mut~ial friendlyship between the
peopie of both cities and to carry out various fr i endly activities, so as to
develop mutual relations in the direction of formal sister cities in the
future .
IV. As for the matters that were not mentioned in the letter of intent, the
two governments ·will decided upon agter friendly negotiation under
condition of mutual inderstanding and with mutal friend ship.
This le tter of intent is written in duplicate in the Chinese and English
languages, both texts being equally au thentic.
