Root cause: NextGen technologies
Key issue
1. Lower altitude
Caused by NextGen technologies. In the past, the altitude was higher
than 5000ft or even 8000ft
2. Concentrated flight route
NextGen made flight route more concentrated. For SJC and SQL flight,
the route is pricisely from Rancho Rinconada to Vallco in Cupertino.
Residents in this area can hear more than 100 SJC fights on a day of
south flow. In the past, there were not so many airplanes in the sky.
3. Some flights from the North intentionally took a detour to avoid the
city of Palo Alto.
