ON SEPTEMBER 19,2016 , I INSPECTED AND PHOTOGRAPHED THE TREES
AT 21912 GARDENVIEW LANE, CUPERTINO WITH THE FOLLOWING
FINDINGS:
TREE NO. 1 IS A 30" DIAMETER DEODAR CEDAR( CEDRUS DEODORA) IN
DECLINING CONDITION. THE ROOTS OF THIS SPECIES IS SUBJECT TO
DAMAGE AND POSSIBLE DEATH FROM THE OAK ROOT FUNGUS
PRESENT IN MANY VALLEY SOILS. THE ROOTS OF THIS TREE WILL BE
FURTHER DAMAGED BY THE NEW CONSTRUCTION PROCESS. I
THEREFORE RECOMMEND THE REMOVAL OF THIS TREE.
TREE NO. 2 IS A 60" DIAMETER COAST REDWOOD ( SEQUOIA
SEMPERVIRENS) IN GOOD CONDITION. THIS SPECIES IS NATIVE TO THE
FOG BELT OF CALIFORNIA AND IS NOT VERY DROUGHT TOLERANT.
THIS SPECIES SHOULD BE IRRIGATED EVERY TWO WEEKS DURING THE
DRY SEASON AS DIRECTED BY THE PROJECT ARBORIST.
INSTALL A 6'0" HIGH PROTECTIVE WIRE MESH FENCE AROUND THIS
TREE PRIOR TO BEGINNING CONSTRUCTION AS DIRECTED BY THE
ARBORIST.
TREE NO. 3 IS A 12" DIAMETER COAST LIVE OAK( QUERCUS
AGRIFOLIA) IN FAIR CONDITION. THIS SPECIES IS NATIVE TO THE
COASTAL VALLEYS OF CALIFORNIA AND IS DROUGHT TOLERANT.
TREE NO. 4 IS A 12" DIAMETER COAST LIVE OAK(QUERCUS
AGRIFOLIA). "DITTO FOR TREE NO. 3."
TREE NO. 4A IS A 6" DIAMETER COAST LIVE OAK(QUERCUS
AGRIFOLIA) " DITTO FOR NO. 3"
TREE NO. 4B IS A GROUP OF SMALL DIAMETER LIVE OAKS (QUERCUS
AGRIFOLIA) "DITTO FOR NO. 3"
TREE NO. 5 IS A 8" DIAMETER COAST LIVE OAK(QUERCUS AGRIFOLIA)
"DITTO FOR NO. 3"
TREE NO. 6 IS A 10" DIAMETER DEODAR CEDAR(CEDRUS DEODARA) IN
FAIR CONDITION."
TREE NO. 7 IS A 14" DIAMETER MONTEREY PINE (PINUS RADIATA) IN
FAIR CONDITION. THIS SPECIES IS NATIVE TO THE FOG BELT OF THE
CALIFORNIA MONTEREY PENNINSULA AND IS NOT VERY DROUGHT
TOLERANT HENCE ALL THE TREES OF THIS SPECIES ON THE SITE ARE
SUFFERING VARIOUS LEVELS OF DROUGHT STRESS. BARK BEETLES
OFTEN INVADE AND DESTROY SUCH TREES.
TREE NO. 8 IS A 12" DIAMETER DEODAR CEDAR(CEDRUS DEODARA). IN
FAIR CONDITION."
TREE NO. 9 IS A 10" DIAMETER COAST LIVE OAK (QUERCUS AGRIFOLIA)
"DITTO FOR NO. 3"
TREE NO. 10 IS A 16" DIAMETER MONTEREY PINE (PINUS RADIATA).

TREE NO. 11 IS A 10" DIAMETER COAST LIVE OAK(QUERCUS
AGRIFOLIA) "DITTO FOR NO. 3"
TREE NO. 12 IS A 24" DIAMETER MONTEREY PINE (PINUS RADIATA)

TREE NO. 13 IS A 8" DIAMETER COAST LIVE OAK(QUERCUS
AGRIFOLIA), "DITTO FOR NO. 3"
TREE NO. 13A IS A 6" DIAMETER COAST LIVE OAK(QUERCUS
AGRIFOLIA), "DITTO FOR NO. 3"
TREE NO. 14 IS A 20" DIAMETER MONTEREY PINE ( PINUS RADIATA),
"DITTO FOR NO. 7"
TREE NO. 15 IS A 20" DIAMETER MO�TEREY PINE (PINUS RADIATA) IN
POOR CONDITION DUE TO THE DROUGHT AND BARK BEETLE ATTACK
AND ADVANCED AGE. I RECOMMEND THE REMOVAL OF THIS TREE.
TREE NO. 16 IS A 12" DIAMETER MONTEREY PINE (PINUS RADIATA) IN
"DITTO FOR NO. 7"
TREE NO. 17 IS A 12" DIAMETER MONTEREY PINE (PINUS RADIATA)
"DITTO FOR NO. 7"
TREE NO. 18 IS A 20" DIAMETER MONTEREY PINE (PINUS RADIATA)
"DITTO FOR NO. 7"
TREE NO. 19 IS A 8" DIAMETER COAST BEEFWOOD (CASURINA STRICTA)
THIS SPECIES IS A NATIVE OF AUSTRALIA AND IS DROUGHT
TOLERANT. THIS TREE IS IN FAIR CONDITION.
NO. 20 IS A 20" DIAMETER MONTEREY PINE (PINUS RADIATA) "DITTO
FOR NO. 7"
I BELIEVE MOST OF ON SITE TREES CAN BE SAVED DURING THE
CONSTRUCTION PROCESS WITH PROPER TREE PROTECTIVE FENCING
INSTALLED PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION AS RECOMMENDED BY THE
PROJECT ARBORIST.
TREES NO. 1 SHOULD BE REMOVED AND THREE 24" BOX PODOCARPUS
GRACILIOR SHOULD BE INSTALLED TO MITIGATE THIS TREE
REMOVAL.( SEE PLANTING PLAN)
EXISTING TREES AND SHRUBS ALONG THE PROPERTY LINES THAT
PROVIDE PRIVACY SHOULD REMAIN IN PLACE.
