CC 03-07-2017 Study Session Item No. 1 Work Program Written Communication Lauren Sapudar CC 03-07-2017 Shidy Session :1 From: Lisa Warren < Sent: Tuesday, March 07, 2017 3:31 PM To: Savita Vaidhyanathan; Rod Sinks; Darcy Paul; Steven Scharf; Barry Chang; City Clerk Cc: Lisa Warren Subject: meant for inclusion in correspondence for March 7, 2017 City Council Meeting - RE: possible Citizens Advisory Committee related to Development in Cupertino - Mayor and City Council members, I posed a question to Mayor Vaidhyanathan earlier today. She responded quickly and I very much appreciated that fact. There are several 'rumors' floating about and that is usually not productive or healthy. I prefer facts. Based on the Mayor's recollection of what was discussed and concluded during your CC goal setting meeting, I am sending this email message to voice my concern/opinion. I, as someone who would consider applying to participate in a Citizens Advisory Committee, strongly believe that such a committee should be tasked with studying and advising on development throughout the city. I question why such a group should be limited to/focused on only one development site. If there were to be ANY rezoning considered for a single property in the city, then the entire city must be looked at. Development PLANNING should avoid a piecemeal approach. Additionally, I can see NO reason to rush the process of forming a committee and having members roll up their sleeves. This is particularly true if this would be a single project effort as opposed to a citywide study. During the last two and a half years, the city of Cupertino has seen numerous reasons to support my beliefs on this subject. It is likely that I will not be in attendance at tonight's CC meeting. Please consider this email message as written communication related to something not on tonight's agenda (March 7, 2017). Thank you. During Goal Setting mtg, the discussion about considering forming some sort of advisory committee in regard to resident input on development in the city --- and in your State of the City address... I am struggling to understand what such a committee would be tasked with. Q: Is your goal to have an advisory committee to address all development in Cupertino, or only for the Vallco site ?
