District has decided to retain Sedgewick School site and sell

Parks and Recreation Director Ccwling reviewed the City's
general park plaJ'U'1in;J.
Director of Public Works viskavich reviewed the details
regarding tran..c:actians with the School District. 'lbese
presentations were followed by Ch"-'ILs and inp1t fran the
PlaJ'U'1in;J l'nmIi"'Sioners, Parks and Recreation Ccmnissioners and

adjoining church prq¡erty so scocer fields can be designed in

shared parking with the church.

Mr. Ccwling described the fields presently available for active
sports in the FLe..a.t Older area. Purchase am devel,¥"""d.. of
Fu".......L Older woold result in an increase in usable fields, but
mt an increase in open space. '!be Wlldinqs located Œ1 the
site seem to be in good shape: however, the City oœld mt keep
them am have the fields too. staff has not investigated the
possibility of keeping the Wilson Park site and just l:uying five
acres of the Fu.........L Older prcperty. '!be possibility of the
churc:h using the existin::J J::uildinqs was ñi"'''''I1''s'!!CÎ. Pert1aps the
Wlldinqs in that section of the site oœld be traded for church
property which woold result in the ability to expan:i the narrow
portion of Fì...........¡L Older site to fit the fields in an east-west
directim. Also ñi"<,,,eo;-ed was the possibility that the land
fran the School District was offered at a z-it..--i price because
of the odd shape of the site. More of the wilson site oœld be
~ instead of the FL...........L Older site, rot traffic and
parking wcW.d then occur in a residential area. Also, the
FL...........L Older site already has a signal which woold be
œoe<'9ary. '!be Wilsa1 passive park area will remain. It was
su;¡gested that all of both sites be ~ am not just me
or the other. Perhaps saœ of the land oœld be used for
affordable hoosing.
City Manager Brown stated that the city is only l()()]{inq at a
~ of site and staying within the ëmO.mt of land as per the

authorized to investigate the possibility of exchan:]e of sites

with the c:hurc:h for additional property. staff was also
directed to do a layaIt for parking, etc. staff ,,':::1 also
researd1 the possibility of generating money for 00t.'1 sites.
