The joint City Council/Planning Commission meeting was held to provide direction for the Planning COID1saion and define "neighborhood character is tics" . It was moved by Counc. Sparks and seconded by Counc. Plungy that the dis cU8sion be limited to Council and Commission members and a future public hearing would be acheduled for citizen input. The motion was defeated with Councilmembers Gatto and O'Keefe dissenting. It was moved by Counc. O'Keefe, seconded by Counc. Sparks and passed unanimously to receive input from citizens attending this workshop. Some items Council requested Commissioners to consider were quality development; sensitivity to the area; density n~ers, not a range; marriage of project to the surrounding environment; pollution; overall design; design and type of business (if commercial); and aesthetically pleasing. City Clerk's Note: Director of Public Works Viskovich arrived. A matter of major concern is getting the public involved during General Plan discussions when many decisions are made. Council directed the Planning Commission to expedite Application I-GPA- 80. þ Council ~xpressed interest in continuing the Citizens Goals Committee on a long- ~erm basis and reevaluating the General Plan.
