Lawsuit Regarding Redistricting - It was moved by Counc. Johnson, sec-
onded by Counc. Rogers and passed wit~ Counc. Sparks dissenting to sup-
port the San Mateo lawsuit pertaining to redistricting on an individual
h8ai~ =~ behalf of the City Council. The City Attorney was directed to
~otify the City of San Mateo. The City Attorney stated that in his
opinion. expenses incurred in this action could be paid by the City.
Mayor Sparks will arrange for a meeting of the Council with Senator
Alquist.

Stan Scarborough, 1&571 Whitney Way, opposed the density and traffic
problem potential of the proposed development. He presented trans-
parencies showing figures regarding housing density and proposed street
alignment plan. He objected to the density and traffic figures in
the report.
Rosemary Callahan, 19954 Wheaton, also expressed concerns regarding
traffic. She stated her particular concern for the safety of school
children. She also felt the density was too high.
It was moved by Counc. Plungy, seconded by Counc. Johnson and passed
unanimously to close the public hearing.

It vas moved by Counc. Johnson, seconded by COlIne. Plungy and passed
unanimously to direct the City Attorney to prepare an impartial
analysis of the transient occupancy tax .easure on the June ballot.
It was moved by Counc. Johnson, seconded by Counc. Plungy ana passed
with Counc. Gatto dissenting to direct the Mayor to appoint a committee
to prepare an argument in support of the tax measure.
It was moved by Counc. Johnson and seconded by Counc. Plungy to
decide a tie vote for a Council position in the June election by
lot. The motion vas defeated with Councilmembers Sparks, ~ogers and
Gatto dissenting.
It was moved by Counc. Rogers, seconded by Counc. Ga~to, and passed

legal advertising, publication days, how publication days affect
developers and requirements of the Government Code pertaining to desig-
nation of newspaper for legal ada. The Cupertino Courier and Valley
Journal should be specifically addressed.
