This notification letter is issued as a reminder that the construction permit for the following project will expire on
the date shown above unless further action is taken by you.
Per Section 105.5 of the California Building Code, ... "every permit issued shall become invalid unless the work on
the site authorized by such permit is commenced within 180 days after its issuance, or if the world authorized on the
site by such permit is suspended or abandoned for a period of 180 days after the time the work is commenced. "
The following options are available to keep your building permit active:
A. If construction for your project is ongoing, an inspection must be requested prior to the expiration date of the
permit to verify work is continuing and the project is not abandoned_
B. A request in writing to extend your building permit may be submitted prior to the expiration date of the permit.
Valid reasons shall be cited for the delays on your construction schedule with a justifiable cause demonstrated to the
Building Official. The extension, if granted, will be for a period of not more than 180 days. A processing fee will be
due upon submittal of the request. Extension requests shall be hand delivered to the building department or e-mailed
to patriciagftupertino.ora.
if no action is taken prior to the expiration date of the building permit, the building permit will expire. Once a permit
expires all fees paid to date will be relinquished, new fees will be required to reactivate the expired permit and the
project will be subject to compliance with all new Building Code standards and local ordinances in effect at the time
the permit is reactivated. For projects that require plan review, additional plan review fees and new plans and
documents will be required to be submitted for review to all new code standards and local ordinances.
Discretionary Planning approvals are subject to expiration if the building permit expires. Please refer to the Planning
Department to determine if a new planning review process is required. A Code Enforcement action may result if
partial construction of a building is left abandoned and the site is deemed unsafe.
If your records show that the permit inspection card was signed and released (finaled) by one of our building
inspectors, please notify us at your earliest convenience at (408) 777-3228. We will update our records and close
your permit and we apologize for any inconvenience this letter may have caused.
