Subject: RE: CUPERTINO HOTEL(GOODYEAR TIRES)
Dear Gian,
PLS PRESENT TO COUNSIL MEMBERS IF I CANNOT MAKE IT! THANKS.
If the City Counsil members are going to Ignore the General Plan and give exceptions
every time a builder wanted to do something out of regulation an non-conforming to City
Code — we may as well toss out the GP.
I am all for development in Cupertino, but it needs to be reasonable and sensible! NOT
just advantageous for the Builders profitability!
I am writing to voice my opinion about the proposal to have a 5 Story approx 120 feet
in height hotel in an area that is Residential predominantly, with max of 40 feet in height.
Here are my Objections:
1. There is NO Hotel in this neighborhood, Cupertino INN, is an INN, let it remain
so, it can use a face lift!
2. The Traffic congestion for residents in this area is already horrible, with Apple
opening down the road its already a 20 mins drive for 3 blocks, this will be
disastrous with a Hotel at that corner.
3. With the circumference of the proposed site being small, the builder can only go
Up to be profitable. This will stand out like a sore thumb, in this area, as there is
nothing that tall!
4. The height of the Commercial Shopping strip that houses Safeway etc, are also
at a reasonable height to conform to the neighborhood!
5. There is a Condo Complex behind — Celeste Circle, that will suffer the loss of the
homes having No views whatsoever if this huge tall building came up at the
corner. I own a Condo here and enjoy a view of the mountains from my upper
story. Who will compensate me for the loss of enjoyment for My home and all my
neighbors home? Will the Builder, or the City take responsibility for that?
6. With a Hotel on the corner, home prices in the neighborhood would fall, and we
the homeowners, right around that area, will hold the city responsible, for
ignoring the guidelines set for that neighborhood and granting any exceptions to
the builder for pure profitability!
i
7. There are Large Trucks that come into Franco Ct for deliveries to the back of the
Strip mall, and come Out of the driveway to De Anza Blvd. There is already
congestion on Franco Ct with trucks, and construction vehicles parked there
currently.....We at Celeste have already born construction of the strip mall....
A hotel there would be an absolute mistake!
FROM A VERY UPSET RESIDENT OF CUPERTINO!
