Projects and events that the Teen
Commission have completed this term
PIZZA AND POLITICS
▪Tri-city event with Saratoga and
Campbell
▪Discussions between Mayors of
Saratoga and Campbell and Vice
Mayor of Cupertino
▪Debate between Nora Campos and
Jim Beall
▪Mock Republican and Democratic
debate by Lynbrook students
▪Over 150 attendees!

YAC SOCIAL
▪Event that happens every fall/winter which brings
together all Youth Commissions/Committees/Teen
Advisory Boards from different cities in Bay Area
▪Commissioners voiced opinions on teen-related
topics and discovered special events or programs
each city does which helps better their community

YES CONFERENCE
▪Event that brings together middle &
high school students from the 9 SF
Bay Area counties to discuss
solutions to the climate change crisis
and raise awareness of how our
transportation choices affect our
families, communities, air, and
planet.

HACK CUPERTINO
▪2 day long hackathon at Quinlan Community Center in
conjunction with Cupertino Recreation.
▪Topic areas focused around public safety and community
connectivity
▫1st place: Volunteer X
▫2nd place: Hood Watch
▫3rd place: Walk With Me
▪Over 100 attendees

PROPOSALS
Ongoing proposals and future plans
SOCIAL HOST ORDINANCE
▪Ordinance which makes it illegal to provide an
environment where underage drinking takes
place, regardless of who provides the alcohol.
▪Goal is to prevent teens from taking part in
underage drinking
▪Working with County Sheriff and City Staff on
next steps. 3 remaining commissioners & Staff
Liaison will educate incoming commissioners.

FUHSD BRIDGE
▪We would like to partner with FUHSD in future
▪Goals:
▫Improved communication between the
City and the district
▫Work together to put on events for
students (e.g., Cupertino Recreation)
▫Help reduce stress in the city
▫Stress is a huge issue that affects
many students

A Day at the Capitol -August 29th
▪Outgoing & incoming commissioners will spend
the day visiting the State capitol, gain insight
into the legislative process, and meet State
officials
▪Going with other Youth Commissions in the
district
