WHAT IS A WALK AUDIT?
•Gathering of data about environmental conditions
(social, built, and natural) that affect walking and
bicycling
•Tool that provides community stakeholders with
information they need to effectively analyze the
design and condition of the transportation network
•Identifies areas conducive to walking and bicycling
and areas where changes are needed
•Informs the solutions chosen to create change

DELIVERABLES?
•Each walk audit results in a Walk Audit Report
•Walk Audit Report includes:
•Infrastructure project recommendations on school
campus and surrounding city streets
•Education and encouragement program
recommendations for schools
•Reports can be referenced continually by City,
schools, and school districts
WHO WAS INVOLVED?
•City staff
•Alta Planning
•Cupertino schools (staff and
parents)
•FUHSD, CUSD Cupertino High School Audit
TIMELINE
•Spring 2016: First audit conducted at Lincoln and Monta Vista
schools
•Fall 2016 –Spring 2017: All 14 Cupertino schools audited
•Summer 2017: Results analyzed, walk audit reports delivered to
City staff, schools, and school districts
•Summer 2017 –Fall 2017: SR2S Coordinator meetings with school
and district staff to review reports and advise project
implementation
•Summer 2017: Begin implementation of report recommendations
