This Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) sets for the terms and understanding between the
City of Cupertino and the Frontier Capital to promote smart city related projects
Background
Cupertino is a U.S. city in California, It is best known as the corporate headquarters of the Apple
Inc. At the heart of Silicon Valley, Cupertino is home to the world technology innovation, The
best place to lead the world in smart city transformation
Frontier Capital is developing Mcity program in China. Designed by University of Michigan,
Mcity is a unique test facility for evaluating the capabilities of connected and automated vehicles
and systems in a realistic off-roadway environment before a significant number of highly
automated vehicles can be deployed safely on actual roadways
Facing the Smart City Challenge, Frontier Capital is looking for the most innovative folks, and
leading companies in Silicon Valley, These partnerships will help to promote an inclusive
transportation system of the future.
Purpose
Frontier Capital and City of Cupertino join as a strategic partners to develop the foundations
of a commercially viable ecosystem of autonomous and connected vehicles for future driving
change

The above goals will be accomplished by undertaking the following activities:
1. City of Cupertino will invite major company and institution such as Apple, Google, IBM,
Facebook, Tesla,UC Berkeley, or Stanford University to participate the Smart
Transportation Program
2. City of Cupertino will facilitate USA company such as Apple, Google, Tesla, IBM, or
Facebook to promote the newest technology of Smart Transportation Program in China.

3. Frontier Capital will participate the 2017 annual Global Smart City Summit event.

smart city innovation challenge program at the Silicon Valley Global Smart City Summit

Funding
This MOU is not a commitment of funds.
Duration
This MOU is at-will and may be modified by mutual consent of authorized officials from the
following singed partners. This MOU shall become effective upon signature by the
authorized officials from the following singed partners and will remain in effect until
modified or terminated by any one of the partners by mutual consent. In the absence of
mutual agreement by the authorized officials from the following singed partners this MOU
shall end on Dec 31,2017 of partnership.
