Subject: Spanish Tile Roof Hook (Part #STRH90) Laboratory Load Testing
Dear Mr. Gentry:
As requested, Applied Materials & Engineering, Inc. (AME) has completed load -testing Spanish tile
roof hook (see Appendix A, Figure 1). The purpose of our testing was to evaluate the tensile and
compressive load capacity of the Spanish tile roof hook attached to a 2"x4" Douglas Fir rafter using # 12
Quickscrew (5/16" Ox 3" L T 17 302 SS).
SAMPLE DESCRIPTION
Mockup samples were delivered to our laboratory on July 6, 2012. Mockup configuration consisted of
three 16" long rafters at 7"o.c., screwed to 1/2" OSB sheathing. The Spanish tile roof hook is attached
through the OSB into the rafter with two fasteners.
TLS I PROCEDI'RES & RESULTS
1. Compressive Load Test
A total of three tests were conducted for compressive load capacity on July 14, 2012 using a United
Universal testing machine. Samples were rigidly attached to the testing machine and a compressive load
was applied to the hook. The samples were loaded in compression at a constant rate of axial deformation
of 0.09 in. /min. without shock until the bracket was in contact with the OSB sheathing. maximum
deflection at maximum load was recorded. Detailed results are provided in Table L Test setup and
typical bracket bending at maximum load are provided in Appendix A. Based on the above testing, the
average maximum compression load of the Spanish tile roof hook attached to a2"x4" Douglas Fir rafter
using #12 Quickscrew was determined to be 230 Ibf. CUPERTINO

SOLARLOK Grounding Bolt
These bolts are designed for solar module grounding applications using solid copper uninsulated
6 AWG to 12 AWG wire, or stranded copper uninsuleted 6 AWG to 10 AWG (7 or 19 strands) wire.
The grounding msembty consists of a wire bolt (wire sbt on one end and threaded post on the
other), wire binding hex nut and mounting lock washer nut. The grounding assembly is used
with metal -framed photovoltaic (solar) panels and related products that require grounding for
ofetyreasons.
