CC Exhibit 02-20-2018 Study Session Item No. 3 2018-2019 City Work Program - Written Communication1 Lauren Sapudar From:Jennifer Griffin <grenna5000@yahoo.com> Sent:Tuesday, February 20, 2018 8:16 AM To:City Council; City Clerk Cc:grenna5000@yahoo.com Subject:City Work Plan and Heart of the City at 4 PM Today Dear City Council: There appears to be a City Work Plan Meeting for the 2018/2019 Years and on that agenda is consideration of the Planning Commission Work Plan. I am very concerned because The Heart of the City was supposed to be studied on the Planning Commission Work Plan and no one from the public has been able to comment on this. There are attempts to break up the Heart of the City and remove properties and public right of way frontage from it. The Heart of the City is a cornerstone of Cupertino infrastructure and policy. It cannot be broken up without serious public input. No one else has expressed interest until now into breaking up Heart of the City. There needs to be serious public discussion before anything like this is done as the Heart of the City is a critical Cupertino hallmark which will decide the fate of San Jose's Stevens Creek Urban Village. The Oaks Shopping Center Project, the Vallco Plans and the Wolfe Road/Cupertino Village/Wofe Road Public Right of Way Tree Corridor and also the Hyatt Hotel at the north east corner of Vallco Shopping Center (sout east corner of Wolfe and 280 Intersection). Heart of the CIty will also be a determining factor in the battle for De Anza Blvd. with San Jose as San Jose rolls out their Plans for the De Anza Blvd. without any discussion with Cupertino. Heart of the City may mean someday there will be a row of trees down De Anza Blvd. to Bollinger Road. Heart of the City is Cupertino's to share with neighboring cities. This is not the time to take apart the Heart of the City which is uniquely Cupertino and many people form Cupertino have fought for many years to form and to save. If anything, it is the time to strengthen the Heart of the City since it is a statement from Cupertino to the surrounding areas as to what Cupertino stands for. Please do not let Heart of the City be taken apart in this way and at this short date and in this short time frame. Thank you ver much.
