Meeting Minutes
1. CALL TO ORDER
At 2: I 0 p.m., Marsha Hovey called the meeting to order in the Vallco Training Center,
10101 N. Wolfe Road, Cupertino.
2. ROLL CALL

3. COMMITTEE REPORTS
Block Leaders
Laura Domondon Lee reported that there are over 100 Block Leaders and that due to
budget cuts, the program will change. Newsletter/mailouts regarding development and
events in the City will be sent to Block Leaders.
CARES
Jim Oberhofer updated the group on CARES activities. He stated that an emergency
communication drill was held during the Art and Wine Festival without commercial
power. He also noted that drills and training would continue in the coming year.
CERT - Leslie Martin reported that she is working with other volunteers to coordinate a
formal CERT course. The target audience will be changed to incorporate volunteer
service from those who sign up for training. She indicated that they are looking for
trained citizens who are committed to reporting during a disaster.
Neighborhood Watch - Jeff Trybus updated the group on his new role splitting his time
between Code Enforcement and neighborhood watch duties. There are 736 members
throughout the city and E-cap has over 1,000 members. He reported that six new streets
have been added and that there is still a strong interest in neighborhood watch.
OES - Marsha Hovey updated the group on the Medical Reserve Corp training she
attended in early July. She indicated that there would be a paid part-time Medical
Reserve Corp Coordinator. She also reported that there would be an introduction to
CERT class, which will be three hours long to give basic preparedness skills.

Marsha also announced that there would be a volunteer recognition barbecue on
September 21 at the Quinlan Community Center. Santa Clara County Fire will be
preparing the barbecue for the event.
