Meeting Minutes
1. CALL TO ORDER
At 2:05 p.m., Carol Atwood called the meeting to order in the Vallco Training Center,
10101 N. Wolfe Road, Cupertino.
2. ROLL CALL

3. COMMITTEE REPORTS
Block Leaders
Laura Domondon Lee reported that the fall training for block leaders would be held on
November 8 and have an emphasis on cultural interaction. It was also reported that
Block Leader binders would be available on CD's.
CARES
Training will continue to be a main focus in 2005 as well as participating in various
community events.
CERT - Ken Foot that the database had been updated to have the most current
information available. An exercise for CERT/CARES was scheduled for November 13
with an emphasis on a scan of the city after a disaster
Neighborhood Watch - Jeff Trybus reported that there are 73 active groups, 1,799
residents and 188 residential streets. He indicated that they are considering removing
watch signs from inactive streets if no meetings have occurred in the last three years.
OES - Ken Foot reviewed the OES report. He stated that the EOC training was
worthwhile and that exercises should be done more often.
Carol Atwood requested feedback from the group regarding the recent citywide power
outage. Several members reviewed some of the issues they faced as a result of the
outage. Members indicated that the biggest factor was when to let people leave the
workplace, school, etc. due to traffic issues.
Carol also requested feedback regarding placement of the ARKS and the need to have
them placed more centrally in the city.

4. NEW BUSINESS
A. October 14 EOC Exercise Update
Carol Atwood updated the group on the exercise. She stated that this was the first
time the second shift had been included in the exercise and that more training was
needed for some positions. She suggested that the first shift responders be
changed to include those who live in Cupertino.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:50 p.m.
