III PETITIONS ~ND COMMUNICATIONS A. Written 1. Notice of hearings on July 5th before the Public Utilities Commission, State of California. 2. An anonymous letter complaining about dogs roaming over property. J. A bid from Leonard McCarthy on road repair, B, Oral (none) IV UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. Ordinances for Adoption An Ordinance decreasing the speed limit on Stevens Creek Road from 55 to 45 M.P,H. was read. The reduced speed zone lay between Highway 9 and the eastern City limits on Stevens Creek Road. After general discussion it was agreed thQt the speed limit should be decreased from the eastern to the wes- tern City Limits on Stevens Creek Road. It was moved by Councilman Nathanson that the change be made to 45 M.P.H. on Stevens Creek Road for the entire distance of the City; seconded by Councilman Lindenmeyer and carried S - O. Changes on other City streets were prevented by the fact that no engineering survey was available. It was moved by Councll- man Nathanson that the City ask the County Engineer to reevaluate the speed limits on all roads within the City Limits, that is preform the required traffic survey; seconded by Councilman Lindenmeyer and carried S - O. B, Lighting Contract City Attorney Anderson reported that he had received no answer as yet from ?G.&E. concerning either the gas and electric franchise or the lighting contract. C. County Contracts The Council authorized the Contracts to be sent in as approved at the previous meeting. D. Speed Limit Matter .see IV-A above E. S ecial Gas Tax Street 1m rovement Fund Cupertino's allocation of 984.00 representing 40% of the fund has been received, the balance for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1956, totalling about $1650000 to remain in the fund for construction on major city streets, F. AIæ.lic2tions for permits to sell "SOlfe and S.ê~FirE:!:I.ºrks" wltf1in the City of Cupertino The CL,unty Fire Marshall recommended that lJermits be granted the three applicants within the City, subject to the approval of the City Council, It was moved by Councilman Lindenmeyer that the recommendations of the Fire Marshall be approved; seconded by Councilman Saich and carried S - 0, thus making the approval final. _ _~__·___·····________·'_'''M v - 2 - G. BUSINESS Attorney's Report none Report of Finance Chairman none Report of Roads and Maintenance Commissioner Councilman Saich reported a bid for road repair work within the City. It was moved bv Councilman Lindenmeyer that the City open negotiations with Leonard McCarthy for patching work to be done in the near future; seconded by Councilman Nathanson and carried 5 - o. Report of Police and Fire Chief It was requested that warrants for arrest and requests for information such as security clearance be forwarded imme- diately to the Sheriff's Office rather than holding it for Councilmen to see at the next meeting. Report of Building and Health Inspector none Miscellaneous 1. Councilman Lindenmeyer observed that other Cities have reached working agreements with their respective Chambers of Commerce and suggested more cooperation between the City Council and the Cupertino Chamber. 2. Attorney Anderson reported that the Planning Commission granted a use permit to the Texas Compa~¡ and had also recommended to the Council that the property be rezoned C-1-H. It was also reported that the Planning Commission is in need of such supplies as onion skin paper, carbon paper, manila folders, a rubber stamp and a filing cabinet. B. C. D. E. F.
