III. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
A. The Secretary was instructed to read the Minutes of the previous
meeting. The following corrections were noted: Item V-B-la,
line 11, correct spelling - "Wardell"; Item VI-F-l, insert titles
of public hearings scheduled,"Use permit for a parochial school
by St. Joseph's Catholic Church; rezoning requests for Blabon-
Walsh property - parcel fronting Stevens Creek Road rezoned to
Commercial, next to parcels at rear of Stevens Creek Road frontage,
Light Industrial and the fourth parcel rezoned to Heavy IndustrialO¡

from Cupertino attend the League meetings., Councilman Wilson
volunteered to represent Cupertino., ~layor Lindenmeyer promptly
named Councilman Wilson the official representative of the City.
3. Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters}' report of registered
voters, Homestead l-C h~s four registered voters; Homestead 2-C,
no registered voters residing in this area.
4. Tri-County Planning Council, 257 Murphy Ave., Sunnyvale,
Resolution congratulating Cupertino upon its incorporation and
an invitation to become a member of the Tri-County Planning
Commission.,
5.. Intercity Council Boundaries Committee, Morgan Hill., Extended
offer of assistance to the City regarding any boundary problems.

1.. Mayor Lindenmeyer had appointed Mr. Peter Tormey and Mr. and

Cupertino area, Mr. Peter Tormey requested Council recognition
and approval of action by this committee of three, The Council
stated the committee had been appointed to study all available
facts on the proposed hospital and present them to the Council.
Planning Commissioner Ray Bell recommended Council endorsement
of the Hospital project.,
2. Mr.. Don Hutlinger reported Saratoga is desirous O~t~~th
boundary on Prospect Road to Saratoga Avenue and along
Quito Road,_ Azule and Brookview subdivisions are interested in
joining the preposed incorporation of Saratoga.
3. Mr.. Robert Butcher of Wolff Road presented consent petitions,_
maps and legal descriptions entitled Quito 1-0 to the Council
for annexation purposes. Four members of the Planning Commis.

1. City kttorney Sam Anderson read Resolution No.. 9 as amended
per instructions January 2.3, 1956, Council meeting.
B. Miscellaneous
1. Discussion: City Administrator and Clerk
a. Councilman Wilson advocated a full time City Administrator
and a part time secretary. Mr. Lawrence I1artin cons~ered

3. Resolution to County Tax Collector, Roy P. Emerson, requesting
services of his office for fiscal year 1956-57.
Result of Cupertino School Trustees and City Council meeting.
a. Councilman Nathanson reported two appraisals have been
made by the School Board, one for ~9l,OOO and the second
for ~9.3,OOO. Before the School District would lease part
of this bailding for school offices, it would be necessary
for the City to remodel tho heaDing and ventilating s.ystems.
Possible rontal fees from the School District, ~.3500.00
per annum. EstimlJted yearly upkeep of building, $3000.
Councilman Meyerholz reported replacement cost of the
Cupertino Union School would be :)¡280,000 plus the cost of
an auditorium. Moved by Councilman Nathanson and seconded
by Councilman Wilson, each member of the Council rcport
his opinion of the proposed purchase and an acoeptable
purchase prioc. Carried 5 - O.
Report of Sunnyvale and Cupertino Council meeting.
a. Councilmen Meyerholz and Wilson represented the Council at
this meeting. Councilman Meyerhoiz reported Sunnyvale
urged a mutual boundar,y at Homestead Road. Councilman
Wilson favored a mutual boundary no farther south than
Fremont Road; Councilman l'leyerholz arbitrated for a Laurel
Avcnue boundar,y. Sunnyvale Council oonsidered a straight
boundary line more satisfactory in rendering policin

a.. Mayor Lindenmeyer reported the eleotion supplies may"be
purchased at Carlislels in San Francisco; approximate cost
of supplies, $150. Mrs. Lynch and three helpers have been
contacted to work on the eleotion board.

a. Mayor Lindenmeyer reported the' City office is in need of a
file cabinet. No decision rendered by the Council.

VI. NEW BUSINESS
A. Attorney's report
1. City Attorney Sam J. Anderson stÐted an agricultural green belt
before incorporation is in accord with State laws.
2. Highw~ Si~ 9~~a~
Coun~i~Nå~åns~~reported a representative from Foster and
Kleiser Sign Compaqy has offered the services of his legal and
technical staff to assist with a si~n ordinance. Councilman
Nathanson recommended specific regulations concerning set back,
design and upkeep,. a deposit for upkeep and removal of such
signs upon expiration of permit might be desirable.

D. Report of Police and Fire Chief.
1. Chief Nathanson reported he is meeting with County Executive
Frank Thill, Sheriff Hawley and County Counsel Spencer Williams
regarding a contract with the County to assure the City 01'
continued policing services.
2. Mr. Oscar F. Prince, Burbank Patrol Service, requested a private
patrol service license.
3. Mr. Ellis and Mr. Higgins, operators of the California Safety
Patrol rcquested a meeting with the City Council.
4. The City Counoil may state the nwnber of days fireworks may be
sold, Fire Marshall checks businesses for "safe and sound"
fireworks.

1. No Report
F. Report of Planning Commission
1. Chairman Leonard reported the proposed annexation of Quito 1-0
is within the Cupertino School District boundaries and within
the boundarics of tho Sanitation District #7. An election would
be necessary to annex this area of approximHtely 500 acres which
extends beyond El Camino Real. Chairman Leonard recolll111ended the
Council approval of this annexation. Hoved by Councilman Wilson
the Council approve this annexation request submitted by Mr.
Robert Butcher. Seconded by Councilman Nathanson and carried
