Cupertino, CA 95014 Re: Shadow Oaks Rec Center 202 Calvert Drive, Cupertino Hardship Form - Handicap Access Upgrades Dear Larry, In August of this year Cathy Carter ( Carter Design Group) and myself met with you and an inspector ( Jeff) at Shadow Oaks Apts. to review possible handicap access upgrades for the proposed Fitness Center remodel. The main path of travel to the Rec Center has a bridge which makes it very difficult to provide access to the area without substantial infrastructure changes and significant cost. After discussing several possible scenarios we agreed to provide handicap access to one downstairs unit near the front of the facility ( unit #110) as follows: • Provide handicap parking space with all necessary signage and covered parking as the facility provides covered parking elsewhere. • Install concrete walkways, ramps, steps and railing to provide code compliant access to unit # 110. ( plans included) Sincerely, Paul Pendley Construction Division manager Al Construction 925.570.4953 5115 East 81h Street • Oakland, CA 94601 • T. 510-261-4626 • F. 510-261-4642 • Lic. #929384 nw Plan Check Division 10300 Torre Avenue Cupertino CA 95014 Telephone (408) 777-3228 CI O Fax (408) 777-3333 CUPEITINO _ Building Department FINDING OF UNREASONABLE HARDSHIP Project Name: Shadow Oaks Clubhouse Project Address: 202 Calvert Dr. Cupertino Permit Number: 09120139 Date: Revised 6.4.10 The above named project has been granted an exception from the requirements of the State of California Disability Standards based upon the following criteria: 1.
