The City Hanaaer reported that the next School Board meeting is
set for ~~rcb 25, 1975. There is no indication at this time as
to whlch schools, nor how aany, will be closed.
Counc. Nellis believes the City should be exploring how we would
like to utilize those schools that are to be closed. Further,
it should explore how auch it would cost to operate and maintain
these sch"ols.
Counc. J~k3on would like to see a little more imaginative use
of these school sites.
c-nc. Nellis said this is a c....unity problem, and she would
l1ke the City to work wltb the School Board on this problc..
The Counèil aeaerally felt it would be a mistake to give up any
of these school sites when there is the possibility of a need for
thea in the future.
The City Manager reviewed bis :eport of the Statewide Land Use
Plan. He said that, basically, this plan tries to do a land use
plan fro~ the around up. If we doa't get some kind of land use
plan tha[ aakes sense we viII probably get one from the State
which we aight not like. As auch as we can, we should try to
solve conflicts between cities ra[her than on a regional level.

Counc. Frolich wanted to qu.lify his statement in the Janua1."Y 6, 1915
minutes in regard to pollcing of the City Farks. What it should have
said was that he wanted to know if the parks are so 5truc~ured 50 they
can effectively be patrolled. Counc. Nellis agreed this was the intent.
Counc. Frolich asked the staff to restudy the status of pending proje't8.
He would specifically like to have the problem of the size of parkina
spaces addressed prior to completion of Vallco Park Fashion Plaza.
Further, Mervyn's parkina lot needs re-evaluation.
In regard to the Vall co Park sound wall, the Planning Director said db
readings have been takeD in some of the residences and he will get the
results for the City Council.
