Staff present: City Manager Quinlan Director of Adainistrative Services Ryder KaYOI Jackson recognized ~ers of the Board of Directors of the Cupertino Chaabe1." of Commerce and its Executive Secretary Hr. Frank Mulkern. Mr.. Mulkern presented tn the Council a re- pùrt clarifyina the subaltted request of the Chamber and certain doc~ntation of comparative statistics reflectinR costs and activitles of chaLòe1."s of other cities ln the area. Following the presentation by Mr. Mulkern, the Chamber presiden~Mr. Don Betti~wor!~addressed the Council substantiating the earlier submitted budget of the Chamber and ~equested tbat the Council appropriate $15.000 as its contribution to Chamber activities. There then followed a discussion among members of the Council on the rationale for the City to make such contrioutions. There also was discussed the approach to be taken in this budget revie as well as in future revi~s with a consensus desire that the Cha.ber should become less dependent on City contributions in the future. It was aoved by Counciløan Frolich, seconded by COUDcl1man Spark and adopted with Mayor Jackson voting no that a decisfon 1."egard- ina th2 City contribution be deferred to the next ~~eting but with a tentative aaount of Sl2,OOO to remain in the budaet pend- in¡ coapletion of the public hearinas.
