CC 05-07-19 Study Session #1 Sports Center Cell Tower_Written CommunicationsCyrah Caburian From: Sent: To: Qinglin Jiang <qinglin.jiang@gmail.com > Friday, May 03, 2019 12:43 PM Gian Martire cc 5/7/19 Study Session Item #1 Cc: Grace. Schmidt, MMC; City Clerk; Steven Scharf; Liang Chao; Jon Robert Willey; Rod Sinks; Darcy Paul Subject: OPPOSING to CUPERTINO SPORTS CENTER CELL TOWER Hi, My name is Qinglin Jiang. A cupertino resident since 2014 . I strongly opposed to the idea of building the cupe1iino sports center cell tower. The cell tower will be just right next to residential neighborhood commons of cupertino. The negative effect of cell tower on property values is the biggest issue here. Though the cell tower can fake as a tree, it will be easy to find out that a cell tower is near you when searching for a property. It can reduce by ~20% property value for all commons of cupertino properties. The solution is that you find a location that is not very close to a residential neighborhood, so it won't affect any property value. But building a cell tower so close to a 100 household neighborhood, commons of cupertino is not acceptable. Please enter my response to the record of public hearing. Just want to tell you that I oppose the AT&T cell tower proposal at The Sports Center. I don't think it makes sense to install the cell tower next to our residential neighborhood when the tower is for handling De Anza College data traffic. The tight place to put the tower is at De Anza College adjacent to Highway 85. There are no residential communities there and I doubt anyone will object to place the cell tower there . The reason given by AT&T for putting the cell tower at Sports Center instead of at De Anza College because of lack of response sounds like the AT&T project manager is just being lazy. Instead of finding the right solution to the problem, he/she instead chose the path ofleast resistance. I highly encourage you to reject this AT&T proposal. We, as a community, don't want the potential property value drop and possible negative health effects on our children because of this tower so close to our living space, especially there is an obvious right location for it.
