VI UNFINISHED BUSINESS
The Chief Building Inspector reported he has investigated the Stop & Go
Market with regard to the ice machine and the flickering beer sign.
The sign has now been de -activated and the Market has been instructed
to remove the banner on the ice machine. The management at the Market
has promised to contact the Stop & Go Market owners to remove the ice
machine and the sign. The Chief Building Inspector will continue his
surveillance until the Market has complie, with the instructions.
The Chief Building Inspector reported on Gremco Stores price sign,
which is the large A -frame sign displayed at the service station.
The main objection here is the A -frame type of sign. Service stations,
in accordance with the Sign Ordinance, are allowed signs in excess of
other signs, but the total area should not exceed 1.' of the lot area;
and shall not be permitted on a public right-of-way. Chrm. Irwin
commented that if the Chief' Building Inspector feels this is within
the legal size and location, the Committee has no objection. However,
the consensus was that the Gemco sign shoi00, comply with sign sizes
displayed by other service stations in the area.
Moved by Comm. Kowitz, seconded by Comm;.. Agu.ila,r that the Chief
Building Inspector contact Gemco and request their to comply with the
average size sign of other service stations ;_.-c,`.aying their gas
prices.

Further discussion was held regarding the proper procedure with which
to handle this matter with Gemco, and the proper restrictions to be
applied. It was agreed that regardless of sign size allowable, Gemco
should comply with the average size allowable for gas station signs
in Cupertino, and that Gemco should not be singled out for a certain
size allowable.
Moved by Comm, Aguilar, seconded by Comm. Kowit I z., to adjourn"the,
meeting at 9:00 p.m.
