CONFERENCE ROOM C �, D (LOWER LEVEL) ORDER OF BUSINESS STAFF PRESENT: Robert Cowan, Director of Community Development Colin Jung, Associate Planner Pamela Eggen, Staff Assistant APPROVAL OF MINUTES POSTPONEMENTS OR NEW AGENDA ITEMS WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS ORAL COMMUNICATIONS PUBLIC HEARING 1. Application No. 2-V-97 Applicant: Mikio Kimiko Location: 10740 Randy Lane Variance to side setback in an Al-43 zoning district to allow a 14 foot setback where 20 feet is required for a 916 sq. ft. addition to an existing residence. Staff Presentation: Mr. Jung summarized the report according to the description. He explained the exhibits he prepared. He summarized the setback information, what is required in an A1-43 zone what is proposed. He pointed out that the most unique feature of the neighborhood, consisting of bandy Lane and Larry Way, are the two streets zoned agricultural zoning district which have substantially larger setbacks than a typical R1 zone. He stated that the application met the three state mandated findings which are listed in the staff report He said staff was recommending approval of the variance request. Mr. Cowan asked if anyone had any comments regarding the application. Cristina Hartner, 10712 Randy Lane, stated she only wanted an explanation and was not opposed to the project. Mr. Cowan discussed the history in the subject area. He stated the zoning is agricultural and residential which allowed both uses. He mentioned that the neighborhood wanted to keep the more restrictive rules and the City Council had previously approved the zoning. He said the sideyard setbacks are 20 ft. in that area as opposed to 5 and 10 ft. in other areas. - Mr. Cowan stated that he did not think that the project would have a detrimental affect on the adjoining properties. Mr. Cowan informed the Hartner's of the appeal process. Mr. Cowan granted the variance based upon the findings described in the staff report.
