1. Application No. 2-V-97
Applicant: Mikio Kimiko
Location: 10740 Randy Lane
Variance to side setback in an Al-43 zoning district to allow a 14 foot setback where 20 feet is
required for a 916 sq. ft. addition to an existing residence.
Staff Presentation: Mr. Jung summarized the report according to the description. He explained the
exhibits he prepared. He summarized the setback information, what is required in an A1-43 zone what
is proposed. He pointed out that the most unique feature of the neighborhood, consisting of bandy
Lane and Larry Way, are the two streets zoned agricultural zoning district which have substantially
larger setbacks than a typical R1 zone. He stated that the application met the three state mandated
findings which are listed in the staff report He said staff was recommending approval of the variance
request.
Mr. Cowan asked if anyone had any comments regarding the application.
Cristina Hartner, 10712 Randy Lane, stated she only wanted an explanation and was not opposed to the
project.
Mr. Cowan discussed the history in the subject area. He stated the zoning is agricultural and
residential which allowed both uses. He mentioned that the neighborhood wanted to keep the more
restrictive rules and the City Council had previously approved the zoning. He said the sideyard
setbacks are 20 ft. in that area as opposed to 5 and 10 ft. in other areas. -
Mr. Cowan stated that he did not think that the project would have a detrimental affect on the adjoining
properties.
Mr. Cowan informed the Hartner's of the appeal process.
Mr. Cowan granted the variance based upon the findings described in the staff report.
ADJOURNMENT: Having concluded business, the Director of Community Development adjourned
