Feng; City Attorney's Office Subject: Deny Use Permit to Oaks Honorable Planning Commissioners, The Oaks owner must be held accountable for parking all of the cars for months without a permit. Many residents including myself believe that the wealthy and powerful should not be held to a different standard than Cupertino residents. The cars are an eyesore and occupying much needed space while worsening public safety during crowded weekend events where parking is sparse. Tens of thousands of dollars should paid to the City of Cupertino in fines. The owner will likely have some Dickensian line: "But what about the poor developers bottom line?" This isn't a Shakespearean tragedy; residents, staff, Commissioners, and Councilmembers are reasonable folks; show us the financials and why the plan "pencils out" and we'll waive the fee. Cc: City Clerk; City Council Subject: 2019-09-24 PC Agenda Item 3-Oaks Use Permit for Auto Nation - DENY! Dear Planning Commission, I support the Staff recommendation to DENY the use permit request to use a portion of the Oaks Shopping Center to park Auto Nation cars. - It is against our zoning laws. - It goes against the uses described in the Heart of the City Specific Plan. - It sets a precedent for other property owners along Stevens Creek Blvd to do the same which does not benefit our city. It does not bring in retail sales. It does not encourage visitors to come to our city. It is not a benefit to our workers or our residents. - It encourages other property owners to disregard our Heart of the City Specific Plan and our zoning and request whatever uses they deem desirable to them because the city will approve the use! - As the Staff Report mentioned, it can prolong the vacancy of these parcels. Why spend so much time on developing specific plans and city zoning only to allow property owners to circumvent them? Please enforce our laws! Please DENY this use permit. Dear Planning Commission, After reading the staff report on the use permit request by OAKS Shopping Center owner to use that parking lot for storing autos for a dealership, i encourage you to deny the request. Here is why: The staff report shows that this use permit will create a short fall of 68 parking spots in that complex. I was one of the organizing committee members and participant for the f3ide4lDiabetes event that was conducted on Sept 8, 2019 at Memorial park. I witnessed first hand how bad that intersection is during Sundays with farmers market and all the other activities. It was like a zoo with humans exhibiting their animal spirits in trying to get around. This use permit will aggravate that situation creating further parking shortage and spill over into streets. Thank you for your consideration. Muni Madhdhipatla Cupertino Resident Representing myself in individual capacity. 1
