a. Juanita HcLaren on licensing and operations of bicycles.
Juanita ~cLaren, 22101 Lindy Lane, Cupertino, wanted to discuss the
bicycl¿ handbook that she brought back from Curvallis, Orcgon.
She fe¿ls that the bike lanes are a good thing, but there is a
deficiency in bike safety programs. Council~n Irwin said this
has be¿n brought to the atter.tion of the Sh¿riff's Department.
}byor Frolich first referred this to the Traffic Engineer for
comment and thcn to the Police Committee for their rccommendations.
There is some legislation regarding bike safety and registration
at the State level nov.
Mayor Frolich said he had received a letter of thanks from
C.D. Allen, Jr., on behalf of the Santa Clara County Boy Scouts,
and from KQED in appreciation of Cupertino's ubservance of KQED
week.
Hr. Chuck Snyder, Chainaan of the Citizens Committee for Capital
Improv¿ments, reported that they are going to be in a position :~
make recommendations by April 14, 1973. lie said they requested
further guidelines on procedure. If a bond election is to ~~
consider¿d it would require City Council action in April or ~AY.
This will be scheduled for public hearing before the 1>!::"'IJ.ng
Commission on April 23, 1973.
The Mayor requested that the letter addressed to him from Los
Altos on RASA be reproduced for distribution lo the Council along
with input from the staff.
