Hr. P. Jaaes KIller, representing Mr. Geo:ge Yamaoka, lqcated the

question is the undeveloped area iDDediately to the west of the.

will raise the fence and landscaping to 8', As to the saw, he
said this is not a milling operation; it merely is there for the
convenience of custOlll8rs who might not have a saW at home.. This
operation can be moved inside the building. ThIs is a retail

Mr. Killer _ed CouDcilaan Jac:ltson that he bad DO objection to
landscaping detail 1D Condition 19 (or as IIIOdified by the Architectural
and Site Approval eo.a1ttee).
Mayor Irwin DOted that if this is approved we will get some landscaping
along all the major streets.
Councilman Meyers would like to add a condition that the outdoor area
fence should be constructed of casonry rather than wood, Mr. Miller
feels it is redund&~t to sc~een a masonry wall with landscaping. Øe
would like to have the condition state that Architectural and Site
Approval Cocmittee should consider a masonry wall.
Councilman Frolich said that what we are doIng here is putting a lueber
yard very close to residential. The Mayfair Market and shoppIng center
is across the busy Stevens Creek Blvd., and it is not that easy for
the residents on the north side of Stevens Creek Blvd. to gel to it.
Unless that wall is high, you will see the fork lift. The other stores
in tha~ center depend to a certain extent on the grocery store customers.
For the above reasons, Councilman Frolich was against this application.
Mr. Hiller said the traffic going to this type operation is great as
the peak hour traffic going to a carket. With the mix of services at
this center, it will give the opportunity to drive to one center for all
these goods and services.
Councilman Frolich said his main objection to this a~plication is that he
docs uot think this is the direction of the thinking for Stevens Creek Blvd.
Couneilman Meyers would like the architect to consider constructing a
facade around the outdoor area to make it look like the rest of the
buiiding. Mr. Killer said he will diRCUSS this with his clients and
it could be further explored vith U-Control.
Mr. Miller answered Councilman Sparks that this operation is no noisier
than a grocery store and the hours would be better.
