Since they took o"er this business in 1969 there has been no appreciablo increase in business. The introduction of another cab company into this cOllllDUnity .ill hurt Cabs Unlimited, Inc. He said the City of Sunnyvale operates on tCQ cabs only, despite ~Jggestions from time to time to allow others to come in. At the present time, there is no cab stand in the comounity. However, there may be one near the new Hilton Hotel. He said they do not believe anyone can operate any !DOre efficiently than they d~. Profits are marginal, and they help it along with deliveries. ~r. Gazzera quoted a portion of the Ordinance which indicates t~t it is a basis for denial of L' application if the color scheme is the same or similar to the existing cab company's. He emphasized :.0 points: the lack of a need for the additional service. an.s confusicc due to similar color scheme. Councilran Jackson asked Mr. Cazzera how possible gas rationing will affect their supplies and what effect he feels it will have on the taxi cab business. Mr. Gazzera said they will be allowed 94% of past supplies. They anticipate being able to fill all needs of the citizens in the c ..nity in the future. Councilman Frolich noted that one reason for not encouraging taxi service expansion is that dial-a-ride will have an adverse effect on cab companies. t:Ouncilman Meyers sees a need for reciprocal 33reements between the taxi cab companies. For instance, at the present tille, a taxi taking a San Jose resident to the airport cannot take a Cupertino resident home from the airport.
