IV APPLICATIONS
A. Application: 1 &4-HC-65; Henry V. Chescoe, Architect
for St. Joseph's Parish, 1636 Bush Street, San
Francisco, requesting Architectural and Site Approval
to construct additional buildings (a convent and class-
rooms) at 10110 N. Saratoga -Sunnyvale Road, Cupertino,
Chairman Horgan recapped that portion of the May llth meet-
ing relating to this application, '.+-'he reason this appli-
cation was tabled was that it is of such magnitude that
the Committeemen felt they should have the opportunity to
visually check the site before making any decisions or
recommendations.
Mr. Small asked about the roof materials, Mr, Chescoe said
the buildings would have flat -top, gravel roofs,
Mro'Small asked if there would be,any appurtenances on the
roofs. Mr. Chescoe said the decision was made that the
classrooms would not be air conditioned, as an economy
measure,.because they would be mostly unoccupied during the
hot'.months, A portion of the convent will be air conditioned
but the mechanical apparatus will be at ground level, not
on the roof. The roof of the convent will have the same
pitch as the existing rectory.
In the future, Forest Avenue will be a 601 street, with
access to Saratoga -Sunnyvale Road, A portion'of this pro-
perty will front on Forest A erue; whenever it is extended,

Mr,'. Small commented .t,hat the plain, wood siding at theends

because they would overlook the. next door neighbors yard
and Would. invade his privacy, It was next suggested that
this "institutional look" could, be relieved by tall, thin
evergreen trees,
Mr. Rubendall said .there will be gravel roofs with a wide
