1. Letter from Mr; E. F. Anderson, Operations Manager,
Gemco Membership Department Stores, 6565 Knott Ave.,
Buena Park, California, stating they are attempting
to get an acceptable bid for the camouflaging of the
appurtenances on the roof of the Cupertino Gemco Store.

30, 1965.
Moved by Mr. Fitch, seconded by Mr. Nuzum, that the Minutes
of August 24, 1965, be accepted as read.

Moved by Mr. Small, seconded by Mr. Fitch, that the Minutes
of August 36, 1965, be,accepted as read.

IV APPLICATIONS
A. Application: 195-HC-65, Griffin & Murray, Architects,
307 Phelan Avenue, San Jose, resubmitting for Archi-
tectural and Site Control Approval to construct a
3,598 sq. ft. office building for Van Vleck Realty, to
be located at the northwest corner of Kirwin Lane and
South Saratoga -Sunnyvale Road,
Mr. Champlain explained that, now that they have reduced the
number of parking spaces, the building size has -also had to
be reduced from that on the original plan. Exterior will now
have redwood siding rather than slump stone. Appurtenances
on the roof will be hidden.
Mr. Fitch commented that it will be safer entering and leav-
ing the property now, with this new plot plan,

available for a sign would be on the building itself.
Moved by Mr. Small, seconded by Mr. Fitch, that application
195-HC-65 be recommended,for approval, subject to:

B. 'Application: 197=HC L 65, Paul R. , X ngston,' 19�i69 Rosemarie
Place, Cupertino requesting Architectural & Site
.Control Approval to construct a lanai addition to an
existing 4 unit apar�ment house at 191469 Rosemarie Place.
Mr. & Mrs. Kingston were present at the meeting. Mr.
Kingston explained that this lanai would be an extension of
the existing carport. Hl wants to put in a bathroom and then,
next summer, he contemplates .putting in an 18 x 36 pool.
He showed on the plans how he has ample clearance for-the'-
P.G. & E. easement.
Moved by. Mr. Small, seconded by Mr. Fitch, to recommend ap-
proval to application 197-HC-65.

Mr. Kingston asked about the trees which were supposed to go
in the island on Wolfe Road. He was told they are scheduled
to go in there in:the near future.. Mrs. Kingston commented
on the -expert job of•pruning done on the existing.trees.
V UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. There are some unauthorized signs showing up around town,
especially on weekends. The Committee was told this
situation will be alleviated in the very near future.
B. Mr. Fitch asked about the City's street cleaning policy.
He was to this will be on a once -a -week basis, now that
the street sweeper has been repaired..
It was decided that it should be the developer's,responsi-
bility to have the builders' rubbish cleaned up off the
City streets once a week or so.
C. We will try to arrange to have the Fire Marshall speak
at the next regular.meeting.
VI NE'vv BUSINESS
A. Stop and Go Shopping Center on Blaney, behind Burger Pit.,
The Committee was given a preview of the proposed sign
and, at the same time, reviewed the original plans.
The Committee felt there should be a more integrated
approach to the sign situation for the various shops.
They thought there should be uniformity of the signs
on the fronts of the buildings and, at a later date,
perhaps a ladder -type pole sign, with individual listings.
VII ADJOURNMENT
Moved by Mr. Fitch, seconded by Mr. Small, to adjourn the
meeting at 8:50 P.M.
