Moved by Chairman Horgan, seconded by Mr. Chalman, that Mr. Fitch be nominated to finish the term of Chairman, that has been vacated by the appointment of Mr. Horgan to the Planning Commission. Motion carried., 4I 0 Mr, Fitch abstained Moved by Chairman Horgan, seconded by Dr, Kowitz, that Mr; Small be nominated to complete the term of Vice -Chairman, that has been vacated by the elevation of Mr. Fitch to Chairman. Motion carried, 4-0 Mr. Small abstained Mr. Stern was sworn into office by the City Clerk. Mr.. John.Allen, 6301. Atlherwood, San Jose, the Manager of the Drive'In Dairy, came forward to continue representing this application. He said he dild not want.to impose a hardship on the applicant. Mr..Stern' aid he would go along with this pro- posal so long as the colon of paint blends in with the buildings. Chairman .Fitch said that the people on this Committee were Yie.re, of their own volition, to help the people of Cupertino, and not to deliberately causeany hardshi-p- or 'bad feelings , He felt Mr,.Aronsen spoke out of turn. the Committee has no intention other than to, try to do a good job. Chrisman, 654 Georgia, Palo Alto, submitted plans of the existing three buildings fronting on the Hi.gh.way© He said they need some signs for the tenants and he wanted the approva.l now so that he could control them, so they are in good taste and compatible with the development. He wants the signs to disappear under the eaves and have only the lettering stand out, :Ele explained that those tenants in the rear of •the buildings would- have space under the eave in th(:-- front if they so desired, as well as space in front of their actual place of business, There will also be small, readable bullet signs for each tenant. It was decided this proposal would be labeled "Exhibit B" for the 2 x_ 10 signs, to be reconciled within the Sign. Ordinance Moved by Mr. Small:, seconded by Mr.. Araldi, D.D.S., 103 ll South Saratoga -Sunnyvale Road.,,Cupertino, requesting Arch. & Site Control Approval to construct a medical dental building to; be -located at 20411 Pacifica Drive.-. Dr. Araldi and Dr, Mel:eyco presented their plans and,a ren- dering of their proposed medical -dental center. It will be light beige slump stone with raked cement tiles 1" thick on the roof. The exact location is one lot east of Highway 85 on Pacifica. This parcel was submitted and approved by the H-Cont'rol at two different times; one was to develop the whole thing at once and the second was to develop only the first half at this time. Dr. Araldi said they ran into timing problems with the original plans. Mr. Small said it looked like a nice group of buildings, but they would blow the whole town center concept, at this point., Dr. Araldi said they have considered the Wells -Fargo Bank and Palo Alto Savings and Loan architecture, as well -as the ToY-,m Center buildings, Dr. Meleyco told of some of his other ventures in the area. namely, 2011, 2040, 2100 and 2120 Forest Avenue, San Jose -- all medical --dental buildings. Dr-., Kowi tz said he would like ke time to go over and take a look at those buildings before .making any decision. Mr. Stern agreed. Moved by Mr. Small, seconded by Dr. Kowitz, to close the Public Hearings. Motion carried, 5-0 Moved by Dr. Kowitz, seconded by Mr. Chalman, to recommend application 209-HC-65 for approval with the following conditions: 1. Omit the fence - east elevation; landscaping to cover. 2. Change east elevation - lengthen windows of operatories. 3. Conceal air conditioning units. 4. Parking and exit in compliance with 17-U-65 per 11,/8/65 Planning Commission Meeting minutes. 5. Spanish the roof. 6. 10 Standard H-Control Conditions. AYES: Messrs.
