OF THE AR=BCIURAL AND SITE APPROVAL CCMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINI
pMZMMING APPROVAL FOR AN EXCEPTION To MUNICIPAL CODE TIT1,E 17.
APPLICANT: Northwest FICA
PROPEk7I'Y OWNER: YMCA of Santa Clara Valley
APPLICANT'S ADDRESS: 20803 Alves Drive
PR3TF]GT LOCATION: Same
FINDINGS:
The Architectural and Site Approval Committee finds as follows with regard
to this application:
1) That the sign program, as conditioned herein, is consistent with title
17 of the Cupertino Municipal Code.
2) That the applicant has demonstrated that denial of proposed sign will
cause practical difficulties, an unnecessary hardship, and is
inconsistent with the purposes of the Sign Ordinance.
3) That visibility of the YMCA to the general public is important.
Further, visibility to the public is limited by the fact of its
location.
4) That the existing monument sign may remain at a size of 48 sq.ft. and
be internally illuminated as conditioned herein. The sign is
• consistent with the purpose of the sign ordinance and replacing the
sign will cause an unnecessary hardship.
5) That approval of the additional ground sign precludes any building
mounted signs. Additional building mounted signs would cause an over
proliferation of signs on the site.
1-8) Standard Architectural and Site Approval Committee conditions to the
extent that they do not conflict with the special conditions listed
herein. In the event of conflict, the specific conditions listed
herein shall prevail.
9) The approval is based upon sheets 1, and 2, dated December 12, 1991,
and sheet L-1 revised October 14, 1991 except as may be amended by
conditions enumerated herein.
10) The applicant shall reduce the number of lights in the existing
monument sign in order to minimize the amount of light being emitted
from the sign.
11) No Building mounted signs are allowed with the exception of the
• identification and hours of operation on the front entrance.
