SITE APPROVAL COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO FOR OCTOBER 9, 1989.

The meeting was called to order at 7:35 PM by- Chairman Miller

approval of a modification to a Planned Development Sign Program
for an ice cream store to be located in a multi -tenant retail complex
on the southeast comer of Stelling and Homestead Roads.
Vern Burgess from Otsen Sign Company represented the applicant.

On a 3-0 vote ASAC 51,520 l2 was approved per the findings and
conditions contained within the,! model resolution, with finding 3 and
condition 10 deleted, and condition 11 becoming condition 10.

on the southeast comer of Homestead Road and Franco Court (part of
a Planned Development Sign Program).

DECISION:
On a 3-0 vote, ASAC 51,842'.2 was approved per the findings and
conditions contained within tlil model resolution, with condition 10
added to read as follows:
10. The approved copy colors are green (to match R. E. I. sign), red
(to match T J Maxx sign), !'terra cotta, blue # 2648 and blue #2324.
The red # 2178 and pantone pink shown on the approved color
board are not included in I this approval.

L U C A S ) Requesting approval of modifications to a Planned
Development Sign Program for a multi -tenant office building located
on the south side of Stevens Creek Boulevard, between Torre and
Blaney Avenues (20100 SCB).
Kirk Mahncke, representing the property owner, was present for
this item.
ISSUES:
- Location of building mounted signs
- Style of letters
- Mounting technique
- Color palette
- Proportion of letter height to facia
- Visibility of wall signs
DECISION:
On a 3-0 vote, ASAC 51,436.3 was approved per the findings and
conditions contained within the model resolution, with findings 1
• modified to read as follows:
1. The signs included in this approval are generally consistent with
the limitations prescribed for commercial use districts as defined
in Title XXVI of the Municipal Code.

10. Each tenant shall be allowed one building mounted sign, provided
that said sign meets the following criteria:
Letter size: not to exceed 15 inches, 70% of frontage occupied
by business
Letter style: individual block letters, non -illuminated
Mounting: attached to facia with epoxy
Colors: ocean blue, black, gray, red, yellow, brown

informal review of the final building confirguration, colors - and
materials for a single family residence to be constructed on a
nonconforming lot located on the northwest corner of Pasadena and
Olive Avenues (10249 Pasadena Avenue).

CONSENSUS:
- Change the trim to a lighter i shade of brown, so that it will be
more compatible with the off-white siding.
- Change the bathroom window to opaque or frosted glass.
- Other aspects of the plans are acceptable.
ITEM 9) APPL.ICATION ASAC - CITY OF C JPFRTINO
Final ASAC review of
draft Landscape & Irrigation Guidelines before
forwarding to the
Planning Commission for consideration.
The Committee incorporated the information on trees and a short list
of drought tolerant species as suggested by the
Energy Commission.
It was decided that sight distance restrictions
were not necessary
since the Public Works Department already has
standard details for
this purpose. Several spelling jcorrections and
minor changes to
were also made. The guidelines will now be
forwarded to the
Planning Commission and subsequently to the
City Council for
review and approval.
