Dear Council Members,
I agree with Councilman Wiley. I would like to encourage you to consider and request that a policy be implemented that
the City expect that the General Plan be followed. If not, that substantial and measurable “community benefits” be
required to deviate from our General Plan.
I consider “community benefits” as bribes from developers to our city to allow them to not follow our rules. Many of
these “benefits” do not benefit the majority of our city, as Council Member Wiley pointed out. Example, how many of
us “normal” people will be on the roof top of this De Anza Hotel? Versus, the number of us “normal” people on the
ground walking past forced to be very near the street/traffic, driving by or having to shop in this shopping mall?
Think about who really benefits from these bribes? A one‐time payment doesn’t justify years and years of violations of
our setbacks and height restrictions! If the building gets old and is destroyed, we end up with another violation of our
GP! Is this really worth it?
Sincerely,
Peggy Griffin
