CC Resolution No. 05-140 RESOLUTION NO. 05-140 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH ALL CITY MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO PROVIDE FOR UP TO THREE ADDITIONAL SCHOOL PEDESTRIAN CROSING GUARDS IN THE VICINITY OF THE NEW LAWSON MIDDLE SCHOOL WHEREAS, the Cupertino Union School District (CUSD) is in the process of converting Collins School from an elementary to Lawson Middle School; and WHEREAS, following approval of a redistricting plan, a Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Committee was formed to ensure providing safe routes to schools for children walking or cycling to the schools in the Lawson area; and WHEREAS, the need for additional school crossmg guards was recognized as an important adjunct of a safety program; and WHEREAS, the City currently maintains a contract with a provider of crossing guards for other locations in the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT the City Council of the City of Cupertino hereby authorizes the City Manager to negotiate and execute an amendment to the ACS crossing guard contract to place three additional crossing guards in the vicinity of the new Lawson Middle School.
