Dear City Manager and City Council Members,
I am pleased to see that the removal of the city bike registration ordinance is on the agenda for tonight, and I urge you
to approve this change.
When I was appointed to the Bicycle Pedestrian Commission in January 2017, I reviewed all the ordinances related to
biking and walking in the city. At that time, I made the request to the Transportation Staff Liaison that this ordinance be
deleted as it was not enforced, and, as far as anyone knew, had never been enforced. Since that time, I’ve asked on
several occasions for this part of the municipal code to be deleted.
Though activity like removing and unused ordinance can seem inconsequential, it is important that our code reflects the
actual activity of the city and its priorities.
Thank you for your hard work on behalf of Cupertino and its residents.
Best regards,
Jennifer Shearin
