Staff Report City AttorneyCITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT Meeting: JUNE 15, 2021 Subject Consider approval of the Employment Agreement for the City Attorney Recommended Action Authorize the Mayor to execute an Employment Agreement with the new City Attorney for the City of Cupertino. Discussion The City Council of the City of Cupertino desires to appoint a new full-time, regular City Attorney. To accomplish that, an Employment Agreement (Attachment A) has been drafted and reviewed by outside special counsel on behalf of the City. The term of the attached Employment Contract for the City Attorney shall be as set forth in the Employment Agreement unless terminated earlier by the City or the City Attorney. The City Attorney’s Employment Agreement is attached as Exhibit A.. Staff also proposes to amend the Appointed Employees’ Compensation Program to include the City Attorney classification and to reflect the annual salary amount contained in the Employment Agreement, with an effective date of July 1, 2021. Sustainability Impact There is no sustainability impact. Fiscal Impact There is no fiscal impact.
