To the City Council regarding the item on DOLAs in Cupertino. I have been a resident as well as dog owner in Cupertino for over 50
years. During this time I have seen many orchards disappear and replaced by residential developments and commercial developments, but
very little in facilities for pet owners. Cupertino has grown to a size where it can support more services like DOLAs for its citizens. I look
forward to the time when I don’t have to go outside of our city limits to our neighboring communities to find more dog friendly facilities
available. Thank you for including this in your discussions.

Thank you very much
Mayor Paul is a very kind man and I appreciate him making the exception
I am sending a slightly revised version of my speech here - please use this
one below the line for reading out during agenda item for public DOLAs
public comments ( I thin it is agenda item 27)
————————————————
Dear city council member
I am sending this communication to be read during the
discussion of agenda item 27 during the city council meeting
on April 19th
I request that you please understand that I am sending this
email earlier than usual because I am traveling and out of
country ( in india in fact and in a different time zone)
The DOLA programs are very near and dear to over 500
community members along with their pet dogs We thrive on
the jollyman DOLA and look forward to open more DOLA
trials I am leading the request for Quinlan knoll DOLA to be
one of the first ones for trials during the year 2022-23.
Rain or shine, there is one community of users who will
always use the park - it is the dog lovers/owners group.
What we are seeking to do is to duplicate the success of
jollyman DOLA to other parks so the demands of the
increasing dog population can be met with.
I urge you all to prioritize the DOLA trials for a minimum of
two identified DOLA parks ( Linda vista park and Quinlan
knoll near memorial park). Neither are near athletic fields
and hence a lot easier to enable.
This is a low cost high impact program and will bring the
community together much more
Thank you very much

Hi my name is Mike fujita. I am very thankful to the city council for allowing me to speak in support
of giving DOLAs more 5 point votes. Parks have a real role in the socialization of a city and Off-leash
areas really expand upon that. I have witnessed firsthand how close DOLA’s have brought our
community together. 'I honestly never knew my neighbors until I went to the dog parks.' I have meet
all these wonderful people and the only thing that you have in common is that you have a dog and
that you love dogs. This community will help in additional DOLAs to be a small, efficiently achieved
project because Our DOLA Community is passionate, experienced, self-policing to maintain the
environment’s integrity and assure excellent behavior with our dogs.
Off-leash parks are community centers for people just as much as they are for our dogs. With the
positive impact DOlA’s have on our community, I am sincerely asking the council to give higher votes
for additional DOLA’s, for Quinlan knolls DOlA trial to begin, and once successfully completed, be
included in the capital improvement program for eventual park amenities.
I appreciate the city councils time and opportunity to speak for what myself an others are very
passionate about. Thank you and have a great night.
Kindly,

Dear City Council and Staff,
I am concerned about the wording of the “Objectives” of the following Work Plan Items.
Priority Item #6 CUPERTINO STORE IMPLEMENTATION
Revised Objective: Implement the Cupertino Store plan, which will be adopted by Council as part of
the current City Work Program Item "Cupertino Store at Chamber of Commerce". This would include
identifying a location if one is not identified in fiscal year 2021-2022. With some help from the Fine
Arts Commission for some of the items with art designed by community members, items would be
designed and selected for the store, for sale to the public, and also available for exchange purposes
for formal delegations to and from the City, with an at-cost charge structure for the latter purposes.
REQUEST: Please remove the text in RED above. Change the text of the City Work Program Item to
“Cupertino Store”, removing the “at Chamber of Commerce”.
Continuing to use that text is an implied selection of that location when there are several much
more appropriate locations.
Priority Item #7 DEVELOPMENT ACCOUNTABILITY
Analyze methods to limit the implementation timeline for entitled/future projects and encourage
development. Monitor implementation of development agreements and conditions of approval.
Review and establish accountability in the project approval process AND once the project is
completed monitor compliance to these agreements.
REQUEST: Please add the phrase in RED. Accountability monitoring needs to continue not just
through the “project approval process” but once the development is built a process needs to be in
place to monitor compliance to these agreements!
Thank you all for your work prioritizing and clarifying these work items.
Sincerely,
Peggy Griffin
