EDC 01-19-05 City of Cupertino Economic Development Committee Regular Meeting January 19, 2005 1. CALL TO ORDER At 9: I 0 a.m. Carol Atwood called the meeting to order at Cupertino City Hall, Conference Room A, 10300 Torre Avenue, Cupertino. 2. ROLL CALL City Staff: Carol Atwood, David Knapp, Steve Piasecki, Ralph Qualls Council: Sandra James, Richard Lowenthal Chamber: Christine Giusiana, Jack Hubby, Mark McKenna, Orrin Mahoney, Gilbert Wong Guests: Marty Miller, Karen Purtich 3. OLD BUSINESS A. Confirm Chamber Committee Representatives Carol Atwood reviewed the current committee composition. She confirmed that the City representatives include the City Manager, three Department Heads, two Councilmembers and one Planning Commissioner. The Chamber representatives will include the Executive Director, Legislative Action Committee Vice President, large business representative and small business representative. Shawna Holmes will serve Legislative Action Committee Vice President, Mark McKenna as the large business representative and Jack Hubby as the small business representative. The Planning Commission will decide who will represent them at their next meeting. The purpose and goals of the committee were discussed. Chamber representatives Orrin Mahoney and Jack Hubby agreed to provide contact information for target businesses and Carol Atwood agreed to draft the letter to be signed by the mayor and chamber executive director. B. Review Draft Target Business Letter The purpose and goals of the committee were discussed. Carol Atwood distributed the draft of the letter to be signed by the mayor and chamber executive director and Jack Hubby stated that he is working on a contact list. C. Key Development Activity Steve Piasecki reviewed the development activity report. Discussion followed. Carol Atwood stated that there is still an opportunity for improving communication for development projects siting Pinn Brothers and Toll Brothers proposals. Discussion followed. MISCELLANEOUS COMMITTEE UPDATES State of the City, Superbowl party, Chamber Lunar New Year luncheon and sheriff substation open house were among the upcoming items noted during the meeting. 6. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 10:08 a.m.
