It is my "Thank you" to Jon Willey for his outstanding service to our community these past four years as a Cupertino City Council member. He was a major Difference Maker in making our community a better place to live and enjoy. ********************************** I've known Jon Willey for six years. My lasting impression of Jon is that he connects with people - everyone. He enjoys talking and sharing. He is friendly to all, and knowledgeable. He pursues the truth on issues that affect our diverse community. Being an engineer, he values the basics and the details. He doesn't force his views on anyone - he listens to and learns from talking with residents. Jon works tirelessly to uncover the evidence and facts in order to form his views of what will work and what won't. Once he understands the issues, he shares his thoughtful views and action plans, and works to make them a reality. Jon is passionate about our Cupertino community of residents and commuting workers. He wants the best for everyone. He wants everyone to be treated fairly, not just those residents with ample resources and homes, but also those less fortunate. Just one example of his caring for everyone is that he visited the homeless camp on Wolfe Road, and worked on plans to help. As a devoted father of three school age youngsters and with decades as a volunteer basketball coach, Jon knows how to help kids succeed. Jon has spent his four years on our City Council representing and working for all the residents. We all benefited. Thank you Jon for taking time from your young family to serve our community. We will miss your wise advice and guidance. Dear Outgoing Mayor Darcy Paul, You have done so much in your 8 years on our Council and 3 years as Mayor. I especially appreciate your spearheading our new park space and park upgrades, the library renovation, four new housing projects and acquisition of new city property. One accomplishment I would like to highlight is you particular skill in chairing the City Council meetings. Despite the Pandemic, lockdown, and other challenges- Your leadership has been beautiful thing to observe. Similar to the role of an airplane traffic control you consistently keep the meetings on track, manage “in person” and Zoom functions simultaneously, remember who’s turn it is, whether it be council, resident, staff, or other. At the same time you are kind, polite, set limits as needed, accomplish the agenda and almost always finish on or before midnight. Your enthusiasm and tireless energy for Cupertino has been inspiring. Thank you, Susan Moore 40+year resident Sent from my iPad
