WHEREAS, the City of 0Jpertin0 in santa Clara cnurt:y has heretofore
ragged Resolution No. 8184 calling for a special IWnicipal election to be
held on November 6, 1990; and
WHEREAS, the state of California election will be held on Tuesday,
November 6, 1990, and it is the desire of the c:o.m.;:il that said ET"""bl
nu.micipal election be ccnsolidated with said state election;
NCM, 'D=ÖKtò, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
0Jpertin0 hereby ñ"('lares the following:
1. næ Board of SUpeJ:visors of the cnurt:y is hereby requested to order
the consolidatioo of said speci,.1 electicn with said state Election to
be held on Tuesday, November 6, 1990, insofar as the City is
oouCE!1:ued, and to further provide that within the ter.rit:oJ:y affected
by said order of consolidation, to wit, the City, the election
precincts, polling places and voting booths shall be in every case the
same, and there shall be only one set of electicn officers in each of
said precincts. Said """'''IJJ:eS as adcpted by Counc::il shall be set
forth in each form of ballot to be used at said election insofar as
the same is held within the City. næ Board of SUpervisors of the
cnurt:y is further requested to order the Registrar of voters of the
County (a) to set forth on all Sélllple ballo'"..s rela1:in1 to said
consolidated electicn, to be mailed to the qualified electors )f the
City, said measures set forth, and to mail with said Sélllple ballots to
said electm:'s printed oopies of arguments (if any) for and against
said measures and reI::utta1s (if any), as well as an i~ analysis
prepared. by the City AttonJey, and (b) to provide absent voter ballots
for said special election oonaolidated with said state election for
use by qualified electors of the City '10410 are entitled thereto in the
mc:nner prescribed by law.
2. næ Registrar of VaI"..ers of the Coont}' is further authorized to
canvass, as provided by law, the returns of said special election with
respect to the votes cast on said measure aM. to certify such canvass
of the votes cast for and against said measure to the Council.
