Notice of Election CITY OF CUPERTINO NOTICE OF ELECTION AND MEASURE TO BE VOTED ON NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the following measures are to be voted on at the special municipal election to be held in the City of Cupertino Tuesday, November 3, 1998, to submit two measures to the qualified voters of the area known as Rancho Rinconada, described as the unincorporated area generally bounded by Miller Avenue, Stevens Creek Boulevard, Lawrence Expressway, Bollinger Road, and Tantau Avenue, commonly referred to as Loree Estates and Rancho Rinconada, and consisting of 324 acres ofland. CITY OF CUPERTINO MEASURE - ADVISORY "Should the unincorporated area of Santa Clara County known as "Rancho Rinconada" be annexed to the City of Cupertino?" CITY OF CUPERTINO MEASURE "In the event that the unincorporated area of Santa Clara County, known as "Rancho Rinconada" (as more specifically described in the full ballot measure), is annexed to the City of Cupertino, shall the city's existing utility users excise tax, imposed on electric, gas, and telephone users throughout the city at a rate of 2.4% of the monthly bills for said utility services (subject to an exemption for senior citizens) be extended to this area?" NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that arguments for or against said measure may be submitted to the Cupertino City Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8. No arguments shall exceed 300 words in length. No more than five signatures shall appear with any argument submitted. Printed arguments submitted shall be titled. Arguments regarding the advisory measure shall be titled Argument In Favor/Against Annexation of Rancho Rinconada Area. Arguments regarding the second measure shall be titled Argument in Favor/Against the Utility Users Excise Tax. Words used in the title shall not be counted when determining the length of any argument. The City Clerk will select an argument for and an argument against each measure to be printed and distributed with each sample ballot. Rebuttal arguments will not be accepted for these measures.
