Should the City require evidence of insurability Contractor shall file with City a Certificate of Insurance before commencing any services under this Agreement. Said Certificate shall be subject to the approval of City's Director of Administrative Services. Non-Discrimination. No discrimination shall be made in tree employment of persons under this Agreement because of the race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion or sex of such person. Interest of Contractor. It is understood and agreed that this Agreement is not a contract of employment in the sense that the relation of master and servant exists between City and undersigned. At all times Contractor shall be deemed to be an independent contractor and Contractor is not authorized to bind the City to any contracts or other obligations in executing this Agreement. Contractor certifies that no one who has or will have any financial interest under this Agreement is an officer or employee of City. Changes. This Agreement shall not be assigned or transferred without the written consent of the City. No changes or variations of any kind are authorized without the written consent of the City. Attached you will find a copy of the bidding specifications for a new 30-issue contract, along with a pdf version of the publication. The Cupertino Scene is printed monthly, except for August. Bid proposals must provide a fixed production cost per issue. Copy Preparation The Cupertino Scene, a 16-page saddle stitched booklet, is produced with Adobe PageMaker 7.01. Printing is done in four colors on one plate (CMYK), and black plus one stock color on the remaining pages. Printing of publication must be done at printing location of the bidder. Pickup and Delivery The digital files will be ready for printer by 9 a.m. on the Friday following the third Monday of each month. Printer needs to be able to receive digital files by ftP and e-mail. The City must receive a hardcopy proof, or receive by e-mail a PDF file of the completed document, on Monday following receipt of artwork. The Cupertino Scene must be printed and delivered to the Cupertino Post Office no later than the next Wednesday morning, bundled by route according to post office requirements. The printer is respon:;ible for verifying route counts with the local post office and maintaining current carrier route information, as well as preparing post office's bulk mailing forms. The printer must deliver five hundred (500) extra newsletters to the Public Information Office at City Hall on the day of post office delivery. The new contract begins with the December 2002 issue, which means that artwork will be ready for pickup, or e-mailed to the printer, on Friday, November 22, 2002.
