SUBjECT: DEAD TREE REMOVAL PERMIT ACTION LETTER - TR-2010-52:
This letter confirms the decision of the Director of Community Development, given on January
11, 2011, approving a tree removal permit to remove two dead Coast Redwood trees (27"
diameter and 29" diameter) located along the building frontage and in a landscape planter area
at 19000 Homestead Road (Apple). This removal is approved with the following conditions:
1. APPROVED PROTECT
This approval is based on the ISA-certified arborist report prepared by Neil Woolner
(WC-2329A) dated January 11, 2011 and titled "Tree Removals at 19191 Vallco Parkway
and 19000 Homestead Road," and by staff inspection and confirmation of the dead trees
on site, except as may be amended by conditions in this approval.
2. TREE REPLACEMENTS
The applicant shall be required to plant four (4) 24-inch box size Coast Redwood trees in
the same location as the removed Coast Redwood trees per the applicant's replanting
plan and in accordance with the City's Protected Trees Ordinance. The required
replacement trees shall be planted within 60 days of the effective approval date of this
tree removal permit.
Staff has made the findings necessary to grant the tree removal permit in accordance with
Section 14.18.140 of the Protected Trees Ordinance. 4 '

Dear Aki,
We are asking permission to remove one Monterey Pine, 20" diazneter at 4.5 feet
above grade, located at 19191 Vallco Parkway. In addition, we are asking to i-emove two
Coast Redwoods, 29" diameter and 2T' diameter above 4.5 feet above grade. At the Vallco
Parkway site, the tree is located at the southwest parking lot entrance (see site map). At
the Homestead site, the two trees are located in the nurtheast parking lot, one tree adjacent
to the building and the other in the plantin� area adjacent to the access road (see attached
site map).
AlI three trees mentioned above are dead. They are potential hazards and shoutd be
removed.
We have informed the owners of my findings and they have requested to mitigate
the }�azard by removing the existing tree and having it replaced. As a result, we are
requestin� your permission ta remave the tree. Please see attached documents for the
]c�cation of the tree, its position relative to the builciing, and praposed replanting
information.

Happy New Year! I've taken a look at the applications you submitted for the tree removals at 19191 Vallco Parkway and
1900 Homestead Road. The applications have the pictures attached and the dBH and tree species information, but does
not include the signed justification letter from your certified arborist explaining why the trees need to be removed and
your certified arborisYs certified arborist license number.
Could you please provide these?

The removal replacements for the recently applied sites are as follows:
-Vallco: two (2) 24" box Monterey Pines

Also, can you give me a timeline as to when to expect the permits to be issued?
