Could not speak directly to
Jonathan so followed indirect
instructions from those he
spoke to
Vague instructions: “5X the
diameter of the tree trunk”

•About 20 feet
•Distance from tree trunk to
porch: 17 feet
Problems and safety hazards:
•Repeatedly clogged the
sewer line
•Broke through the concrete
driveway
•Potential to break through
the concrete foundation
Me: what about the house
foundation? What about the
safety hazards?
Jonathan: my job is to protect
the tree.
Is the health of a city tree more
important than human lives
and safety?
A penalty of $18,638 is a big
burden to me, so I would
like to ask for a lower
penalty based on the given
reasons.
